Job description

As a purpose-driven brand we are looking for purpose-driven people that want to make the world a better place for current and future generations. This is not your average 9-5 job, we are looking for motivated people that want to work as a team on our mission to change people’s laundry habits. As one of the first employees, you’ll have to become an expert in the domain of textile care, cleaning & ironing all garments, linen and shoes so they go back to our customers ‘as if new’. You’ll be responsible for the primary operation, leading the team in delivering a bespoke service. Your role is to improve operational efficiency and ensure the quality of the laundry, ironing and overall service. No experience is needed, we start with a training program by lifelong experts in the field when you begin. Also, you have the opportunity to connect with fashion brands and educate them on sustainable garment care. In the daily operation you’ll have a standard set of KPI’s to work towards and together we aim to continuously improve the Fornet standards.

Skills & experience

Your job is to manage the daily operation of our flagship store, ensuring happy customers in the laundry service every day. A consistent quality is one of the most important conditions to get happy customers, so you’ll be in charge of maintaining the standardised operating procedures. This requires artisan craftsmanship and a nearly obsessive drive to do the right thing. Furthermore, you’ll be a role model for others as we strive to create level-5 leadership in our organisation culture. People in the operation will look to you for guidance and know-how. Diplomatic though genuine communication with customers and colleagues will determine your success.

Salary

EU 27.600 – 30.000 (dependent on skills and experience) + bonus (dependent personal and team KPI scores)

The Basics:

  • You are leading our AMS operations in close collaboration with the founders.
  • Learn about the mysteries of textile care. Artisan quality is the most important aspect to live up to the Fornet proposition, especially in stain removal.
  • Load and unload machines, iron garments ‘as if new’ and ensure the overal production process is smooth.
  • Explain customers, employees and other stakeholders (such as fashion brands) what textile care is all about.
  • As we are on the adventure to build the future of textile care you can easily get lost. Manage your time well and ensure priorities get done.
  • As with any startup, you are expected to hustle every single day and come up with pragmatic though creative solutions for the numerous challenges we will face together.
  • Strive to be a leader and create leaders by empowering your team to do well.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel to the Zuidas shop on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to actively participate in the cleaning operation as well as to work behind a desk for management work.
  • Must be able to move around and travel for tasks and responsibilities.
  • Enjoy being a problem solver and take a hands-on approach. Never a dull day at the office.

Technical Requirements:

  • Confident using digital technology.
  • Know how to use programs such as Google suite/MS Office.
  • Native level speaker (writing included) in English and preferably Dutch.
  • Preferably some general technical know-how or at least an interest in this domain.
  • An interest in textiles and how to care for them.

Benefits:

  • Say goodbye to laundry day! Free wet & dry cleaning including your regular laundry
  • Flexible working environment: working hours can be mutually agreed upon with the team as long as opening hours are maintained
  • 25 days holiday
  • Pension scheme included
  • Career opportunities: grow into a management role of this global adventure

Company Description

Fornet is a brand from China with 1900 shops (franchise & directly owned) as well as an e-commerce operation. As a corporate startup, Fornet International B.V. launched a flagship store a year ago on the Zuidas in Amsterdam with an e-commerce operation within the city ring through e-Cargo bikes. The first step towards internationalisation is to set up a successful operation in Amsterdam that can be used as a blueprint for further growth. Besides the garments that are washed in traditional dry cleaning we clean any type of textile you can find in your wardrobe, from suits to underwear, from leather boots to trendy sneakers. Our mission towards a purpose driven brand is based on these aspects:

  1. Save millions of litres on fresh water with professional machinery and water recycling
  2. Prevent tons of CO-2 emissions through energy efficient processing and our e-bikes
  3. Filter 90% of the plastic microfibers in textiles before they enter our oceans
  4. Eradicate the use of harmful chemicals by using 100% biodegradable detergents only
  5. Create jobs for mentally/physically disabled people with a distance to the labor market
  6. Extend the lifetime of textiles by ~30% through mild washing processes & garment reparation
  7. Facilitate up/recycling of textiles by transporting (and if needed cleaning) old garments from our customers to capable business partners.
  8. Avoid the need to build a washing machine + the infrastructure in each home which is utilised for just a couple of hours per week.
